The 2nd summertime upgrade for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming, soon, and it carries with it some interesting changes. According to Nintendo, the two huge gameplay, add-ons are the ability to dream and brand spanking new fireworks shows. For Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, a cloud backup system is also coming so you Won’t lose your island.
For dreaming, Nintendo states players will have the ability to rest in any bed in their home. “While dozing off, you might find yourself in a weird world where you’ll be welcomed by Luna,” Nintendo explains. “Luna offers visits to other islands as a dream, and with her assistance, you can share your island as a dream with others too. She will approve those who share their island a ‘Dream Address’ which gamers can use and exchange to go to each other’s island in a dream. In dreams, nothing is irreversible due to the fact that nothing you do is saved, so check out to your heart’s material.”
The fireworks programs will be a regular event, taking place every Sunday evening in August at 7PM local time. Gamers will have the ability to buy raffle tickets during these events to make rewards.
Possibly the greatest part of the upgrade, however, is the long-requested alternative for gamers to save their islands using cloud saves. Here’s just how Nintendo explains the feature:
Nintendo Switch Online members can enable the new island backup service, which automatically uploads island and user save data to the internet at certain times. If your Nintendo Switch system is lost or damaged, you may be able to recover your island paradise as long as you’ve enabled island backup. In the event of loss or damage, contact Nintendo Consumer Support about restoring the island and user save data on your new or repaired Nintendo Switch system. After your island data and individual player data is restored, you can get back to building your island community.
The company also states that “a function particular to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another system is prepared for later this year. Information will be announced in the future.”
